I use windows BUT had the same problem you are having. If there is some sound manager on linux, make sure that the audio output is the same as the one LMMS is using. If it is and still doesn't work, try using a different output (hopefully your comp has multiple audio out ports...). No need to be gruff here. The people who made (and who continue to work on) this program made it for free, so they're pretty nice. We want to help you. Of course, any computer (despite the OS) has a way of not doing what it's supposed to, and inevitably causing you to want to throw the beloved machine through an expensive window. So if post-traumatic-stress is considered a mental illness, you might be at risk 8-O =^D tramadonia wrote: > > hi > > i installed ubuntu 8.10 to escape microsoft, and it is truly a pain in the > ***... i use FL8 to produce music so i started with wine and fruity but > that was incredibly difficult, i want to make music, but i do not want to > read all kinds of howto's and stuff.. so i figured i should try LMMS, and > that worked just fine for a couple of days... made a nice tune and was > satisfied. today i was going to show it to a friend and LMMS cant find my > audio interface it just says dummy... so i put it back to jack and there > is no sound.... i restart lmms and it says dummy again.... thanks alot.. > so i put it to alsa .. no sound.. and i try all the other options but > still no sound ... linux makes me want to kill myself... > > can anyone tell me if it actually is possible to use linux for music > production without spending insane amounts of time reading, trying and > failing, getting nowhere and possibly developing mental illnesses > -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/lmms-ubuntu-is-a-pain-in-the-***-tp23672468p23678098.html Sent from the lmms-devel mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
