for soundfonts use swami (linux, windows) or vienna (windows) editors. I use swami on my ubuntu linux. there are also free vst plugins which loads 5-11 wav samples and you are able to map them. unfortunatelly, i don't remember their names. swami is cool. if you will get some problems with its using so just send message here.
