Yeah there was a similar question, or rather comment, a while ago (in the IRC channel maybe?). Frankly I don't see why there needs to be a name change. Naming something with a "GNU" in it doesn't make it more platform-agnostic; it'd still have the GNU smell to it which some people would rather avoid (like those that bitch about KDE's naming scheme). Every kind of software has its own (funny) name. The decision to release a win32 port should be more of a bonus rather than a priority. I guess that is why people are bothered by the "Linux" in LMMS. One very good example for us is LinuxSampler. Why? Because it's also cross-platform despite the name. Don't know about Toby/Paul and the team's stance on this, though. |
