What the above comments mentioned, and 'cause I couldn't think of anything
else that's missing ;) Yet to test pluggin in a MIDI controller, though. But
I'll do that with the Linux machine as it's a mess taking out the
instruments/gear from that room.

Oh yes, the performance-related stuff _is_ platform-dependent and only
occurs on that specific Windows box. We have to see others' reports to get
an idea. Forgot to mention that the testbed includes Pentium D @ 2.8GHz and
1.5GB RAM.

Rest assured that overall it is fine and working as expected.
