The LLI team has decided to release translated docs ( in whatever form they are in ) once in 15 days.
This is done so that the work is more efficient.
LLI Team
The first ever releases by the LLI team has been made. These translated docs are in very early stages. The release is of the "Networking-Overview-HOWTO" in Hindi and Kannada.
The release contains the HTML, PostScript and PDF versions.

An article about the Linux Localisation Initiative appeared on "The Hindu", a prominent News Paper in India.

The article mentioned about the work going on. It even mentioned about the Beta release of the Networking-Overview HOWTO in Hindi.
The LLI Team has started a campaign for volunteers from Engineering Colleges. As a part of this campaign Frank Pohlmann ( fpohlmann@bangalorecity.net ) and Mahendra M ( mahmk@eth.net ) had visited RV College of Engineering
( RVCE - http://rvce.ac.in ) for giving a few talks about the

The forth LLI meeting was held on 3rd of November 2001. The meeting was conducted at the premises of Federal Technologies ( FedTech ). We thank FedTech for letting us use their premises.
The meeting started at 4:00pm and went on till 6:30pm after which the meeting had to be stopped because the monthly BLUG meet had to begin.
Expect the minutes of the meet soon. That is being prepared. Once it is done it will be put up the same site.
The Kannada team has begun work on the Networking-Overview HOWTO.
Rightly so the work began on November 1st' 2001,
the day of the Karnataka Rajyotsava.
The entire LLI Team wishes them all success.
The first readable version of the Networking-Overview HOWTO in Hindi has been released. It is by no means ready.
It needs to read and errors have to be corrected.
Once that is done we will have the Final HOWTO ready.

The font required for Tamil translation was released.
The font is named : ElangoPH_Barathi
It is a transliteration based font and is easy to type with.
The fonts were created by Mr. Elangovan
( elango@cadgraf.com ).
The font was released for both Linux/Unix and Windows
systems.

The fonts required for Bengali Translation
were released.
The fonts are the Shymal fonts, which come in the
shusha series.
The fonts were released for Linux/Unix machines
and Windows machines.
They can be downloaded from

The font for Telugu translation was finalised.
"Tikkana"
The fonts have been released for download.
The fonts for the Hindi Translation have been released.
The shusha font will be used for Hindi Translation.
Shusha fonts in their True Type Form did not display
under X, especially under applications like Netscape,
Konqueror etc.
To overcome this problem, the fonts were converted into
the "bdf" format. The different font files have been put up
for download.
The package also includes
* "fonts.dir" file. This eases the installation of these fonts
* Keyboard Layout for the font as a GIF image

The Second LLI meeting was held on Saturday
the 13th of October 2001 at MS Ramaiah School of
Advanced Studies ( http://www.msrsas.org )
The meeting was attended by nearly 15 members.
Main events :
* Dr. Pavanaja from Kannada Ganaka Parishad handed
over the Kannada fonts to the LLI Team. The team was
also briefed by him about the standards that we were
supposed to maintain.
