    Hey all,

Been experiencing an odd problem and not sure if it's hardware or software related. We have one musician in our group who uses a Steinberg UR22 connected to a Mac. She only has a single mic connected to the box and is using headphones connected to the Steinberg to monitor. Her voice sounds excellent, however when anyone else in the band plays or sings, all of us get a slap back echo of the mix back through her channel. If she mutes, or if we individually turn down her volume the echo disappears. We have played with her mic gain, volumes etc.. and it continues. When another musician plays, you can even see the Led signal lights lighting up on her channel so somehow there is an audio loop going on.

Others in our band use the Steinberg on a Mac without any issues. Any ideas on what could be causing this loopback issue?

If she unplugs the microphone cable, is the echo still there?

Yes with her mic unplugged we still hear the echo. Tried a number of iterations tonight. Unplugged mic, unplugged her headset. It seems to be related to the mic gain settings and the volume she sets for the other musicians. If she sets the volumes for the other musicians low the echo seems to go away - but then she has a difficult time hearing us. Somehow, the mix that she is receiving from the server is getting sent back out her channel somewhere in software.

I must tell we had a similar issue, likely incidentally with the same audio interface. It was very strange, because we had echoes as far as 30 seconds or more. We spoke or played, and something could be clearly heard a lot of time after. I still do not know the source of the problem, and how we solved, but now we do not have problems. I suppose the computer mic was still active in some way (maybe thorugh aggregated inputs?). So check it.
