    Greetings,
Newbie here having installation issue. The install package won't open. An error message stating that Jamulus cannot be opened because macOS cannot verify the app is free from malware. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi Paul - usually this happens after you've installed an the first time you run Jamulus. Odd that it's happening on the installer itself, but can you try the idea given on the support wiki?

(click on Jamulus in the Applications folder, right-click (or control-click), and select Open from the top of the menu. You will then get a slightly different version of the same message, which allows you to click Open and go ahead with running it. You will not be shown this warning again, and you can now double-click it to run.)

Gilgongo, Thanks so much for your reply. I've made numerous attempts to complete the installation per support wiki. But alas, I'm still receiving an error message. Today, it says, "Jamulus cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware." The gods are against me! Arrrgh! But again, really appreciate your suggestions.

It sounds like you might have some more restrictive policy on your Mac
maybe? Do you have some anti-virus thing running perhaps?

This worked on my 2015 macbook pro:

Move the application to the Applications folder.
Click on the application icon whilst holding down the Ctrl key and choose Open.
That will give you access now and in the future.

Thanks Brian - that worked for me on a 2015 Macbook Air.

Thanks for the help guys. I gave up trying to install on my Mac. Followed Brian's instructions and installed it on a PC with no issues....except the need for a better sound card etc. Again appreciate the replies.

Depending on what your OS version is etc. you might need to go to System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General and approve the app after the first time trying to run it.

If you have the MacOS firewall on, you may need to go to System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Firewall, and then add Jamulus to the list of allowed apps. This might only be needed if you're running a server, not sure.

Also, on the alert that informs you that the software cannot be installed because it's from an unverified developer, there is a [ ? ] button. Click on that and it walks you through how to grant an exception.
