i need your help. Yesterday i had a setup session with one of our bandmates. We are both using a Presonus USB Audio Interface with Win10. As he does have very view computer knowledge, i did connect to his PC with Teamviewer and checked that the setup is correctly and it is.
If we are both connected to the private server running on my notebook, i can hear me and him in excellent quality without distortion or latency but he can only hear hisself but not me.
As it got late yesterday we decided to try it again this evening. To be prepared i hope that you have some advises what to check. One idea that i have is to check the firewall.
Thank you in advance !
Rolf

Yes, that might be but what is wrong ? As i mentioned we have identical hardware and software setups. I told him to use the first port with his mic and adjust the levels of the box the same as i have but still he doesn't hear me.
With another bandmate i have the same configuration and it works, both can hear each other.
Any other idea ?

If everything is identical, it should behave the same way. If not, there should be something different.
With TeamViewer you cannot see the physical audio interface: I do not know Presonus, but in some interface there is a button to enable/disable local monitoring.

I see there are many Presonus audio interfaces, some have a "Direct" button, some have a "Mix" knob. If you have a Direct button it should be off. If you have a "Mix" knob it should be set all the way to "playback".
You need be have things set so you hear only the sound coming from the computer and no sound coming directly from the inputs.

Yesterday we tried again and it worked. No idea why but It seems that only a reboot was necessary.
@Don: The Presonus AudioBox USB has a mix knob. As everything was working i recognized that my voice had a little echo but only on my headphones and not at my bandmate. As i reduced the playback value a little it was gone. Do you mean that we should reduce the playback to zero ?

No exactly the opposite. Set to 100% playback. That way you are hearing the same thing as all the others playing and it is possible to compensate for the delay. It takes a little time to get used to it, but it works.
For singers and those playing acoustic instruments it is often easier to have your headphones set rather loud so you hear less of your own voice directly.
Note that this is the same thing that, for example, an organist does playing with an orchestra in a big church, he has to compensate in his playing for the time the sound takes to get from the organ to the other musicians.

Ok, again thank you very much for your tipps. As the singer i will take care to increase the volume in my headphones. As already mentioned the sound quality with our harpman is pretty good, i can hear his voice and harp as he's standing close to me amd we are both using the same Presonus interface.
With our guitar it is still not satisfying, He can hear me fine but i do hear him as he is far away from the microphone and also his guitar volume is weak. He is using this interface.
Perhaps ou have some recommendation what to check to get a better sound ?
Sorry to bother you with technical questions but this is very new to me and i am the technical responsable for all of my bandmates...
EDIT: Sorry again for misunderstanding about the singer's volume. You mean that i have to be loud in my headphones and not less loud, right ? English is not my native language...

Hallo Rolf,
Don

I would check he is not listening to local monitoring of his own sound.
