i have flashed Jamulus OS with Rufus on a USB stick and it is working much better as under Windows but i can only run it as a live system as i'm unable to delete my internal harddisk with Windows. Unfortunately i cannot save settings on the live stick.
Question: Is it possible to install Jamulus from the USB live stick on an external USB hdd and if so, how do i do it ?
I saw that there is an "Installation to HDD" icon but i am worried that i damage my internal HDD which would be a desaster.

As to booting Jamulus OS from an external drive, I have a dual-booting Windows 10 and Linux machine which uses grub (the Linux boot loader) to let me choose Windows or Linux at startup. I don't think the Windows boot loader supports dual-booting between OSes.
To do this you'd need to boot from Jamulus OS on USB, then choose the external drive when it asks you were to install it. Then you will need to edit grub after that to enable you to choose Windows at boot time otherwise it will assume you always want to boot from the external. Best to google "dual boot between linux and windows" I think as there may be some problems you need to avoid with UEFI and things.

Hi. I just recently flashed to USB stick as well. I think the trick is to flash it with Rufus with the 'Enable Persistent Storage' option. I used the max amount - 24 GB with the slider. According to Rufus docs, when you create a USB drive with persistence, you can allocate up to 24 GB of the USB drive for a persistent overlay file. Any changes you make to the system—for example, saving a file to your desktop, changing the settings in an application, or installing a program—will be stored in the overlay file. Whenever you boot the USB drive on any computer, your files, settings, and installed programs will be there.
Hope that helps.

Al, i did it your way and expanded the persistant memory in Rufus to 2GB (8GB pen drive). The stick is not the fastest one but i can live with the longer boot time as once booted up, everything runs smoothly and now every change seems to be stored...nice !
I try to find out to autoselect german language and bypass the timeout in the boot menu but till now i did not succeed. Any idea how to do this ? That would be perfect.
