So new install on brand new macbook pro:

    • works great with iphone earbuds with inline mic
    • 3.5mm jack headphones plugin with USB microphone (headphones can hear audio from Youtube whatever)
    • when connect to Jamulus external server, lots of feedback

Have tried turning down built-in speakers and mic completely and that eliminates the feedback, but no sounds in Jamulus.

In Jamulus settings only options for Device drop-down are "System default device" and "built-in macbook pro speakers/microphone"

Do we need an additional driver?

    Thanks!

Normally in the Devices menu you should see something like USB Audio too, but you have to launch Jamulus after having plugged in the USB microphone. ALternatively, try to select it as a source in the Preferences/Sound dialog, so that the System default device for input is the USB microphone.
Furthermore, when headphones are plugged in, you should not hear from the internal speakers. which are the likely cause of feedback. So likely headphone are not selected as output device (check this too in Preferences).

Will try one more time the USB to make sure it's plugged in and on before starting Jamulus. We've tried changing the output device options in System Preferences/Sound and that has no effect. Will report back

That did it! Making sure that the headphones and mic were setup and working BEFORE opening Jamulus made it work!
