Aloha everyone. I'm an absolute noob with Jamulus, so please be patient. My first attempt was to create a server on the Google Cloud Platform, but the network delays were too high. So, now, I've installed Jamulus Server on a Windows 10 machine. I can connect to the server from another machine in my house, and a friend can connect from his PC.
Next step is to try to hear each other through Jamulus, but neither one of us has the hardware - don't want to buy it until I know things are working. I have a Logitech USB headset with microphone that I connected to my Jamulus client machine. I do have the ASIO driver installed, and in the settings selected the Logitech. But, I could not hear him.
Can I use a USB headset just to test if we can hear each other? If so, any hints on setup configuration?
Mahalo,
Harry Z

Hi Harry - sounds like you're doing most things right so far. But before attempting to set up your own server (since that has added complications), I'd recommend you and your friends test their local client sound setups first on a public server. Just pick one that has similar ping times for all of you (the lower the better). Then see if you can hear eachother OK (a USB headset should be OK for testing).
If you're worried about somebody coming in and disturbing you, simply solo eachother and leave a message in the chat explaining that you're using the sesssion for testing. They will see you can't hear them.
Once you can all connect OK to a public server, you are good to go for your own one.
Meanwhile, to troubleshoot the sound issue you have - can you post what you're seeing in the ASIO setup screen? It may just be a simple matter of enabling the right sound interface.

It looks like you don't have the "Logitec USB headset" enabled in the ASIO setup. I'd check that and also possibly disable the Realtek High Def audio there, but experiment a bit those combinations I would.

Mahalo (thank you) for the response. Great idea to try this on a public server, will do this as soon as my compatriot says he's ready.
In the meantime, I am attaching a screenshot of the Jamulus client and associated settings windows.
