My Jamulus session worked fine when I used the built-in microphone of my PC. For better sound quality I now bought a STAGG USB microphone (SUM40) that runs on Windows 10 without additional driver.
After about 10 minutes the sound deteriorates and becomes completely distorted. Any small change in the Jamulus settings resets the system, and the sound is fine again until the next breakdown after 10 minutes. I assume that the problem is in a lack of synchronization. The ASIO4All manual warns: “Multi-device-setups require that all the devices involved are running from the same clock source” and “If devices are not accurately synced, their audio streams are likely to drift apart over time!”
How can I synchronize the STAGG microphone signal with Jamulus?

Hi Michiel,
I assume you have tried all the possible options in ASIO4ALL. Other than that I don't know what you can do.
To get a Win10 system running well with Jamulus one needs an audio device with its own ASIO driver. ASIO4ALL is not a real ASIO driver, but a simulation that runs on top of the standard Win10 drivers.
Some people have luck with ASIO4ALL on their system, I have never gotten it to work correctly.
I wish I didn't have to say so, but my solution would be to return the USB mic and purchase an audio interface that has its own ASIO driver and as such doesn't need ASIO4ALL.
One last chance could be to try out JamulusOS and see if the USB mic works under Linux.

Thanks, Don. I followed your advise and with a new microphone and audio interface jamulus works fine now.
Perhaps good to include the STAGG USB mic in the hardware list as not suitable for jamulus under Windows 10

Hi Don
I use now a Focusrite Scarlett Solo interface with a Devine SM-100 condensator microphone.
Your other suggestion appears to work as well: when I reboot my (older, Windows 7) PC with JamulusOS on a USB stick, Jamulus works fine with my STAGG USB microphone.
Thanks again . Michiel

Hi Michiel,
Good to hear all is working now.
May I ask what interface and mic you chose?
It is always good to know what is working.
