I was running Jamulus fine in Catalina; upgraded to Big Sur. In addition to other problems I have managed to solve, I now am unable to open the most recent Jamulus in my main user account; it crashes milliseconds after opening. I can open and run Jamulus fine in a test user account I created. I have deleted and reinstalled several times with no change and have used AppCleaner to remove all Jamulus related files before reinstalling. The app just "quit(s) unexpectedly" with (partial) error message: Application Specific Information:
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'windowToTakeFrom should be in FS'
terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException
abort() called
Suggestions? This seems to be something specific to my user account, but I can't find anything in settings or library files that might be causing it

I think so. I have checked all the permissions I know about - allowing Jamulus to access the mic is the only permission I'm aware of - is there somewhere else I can check. rebooting doesn't change anything. The odd part is that this is an account specific issue; Jamulus runs fine in other user accounts, just not this one.

Seems very odd that it should be an account-specific thing. And I don;t think anyone else has reported that sort of error before ('windowToTakeFrom should be in FS'). I'm afraid Google might be your best bet to solve it, but I'll link to this thread from the the Jamulus issue on Big Sur just in case it makes sense to one of the engineers.

I can add to this that the program opens and just for a second I can see the preferences window and an open chat window; then it crashes. When I use a different user account on the mac, the program opens normally.

Here is a screenshot of the screen that appears just before the program crashes; this screen is up for less than a second I'd say. Something to do with audio preferences; I can't find it anywhere in the normal Jamulus window. Perhaps someone knows what this is? It seems to crash the program every time, but only in one of the several accounts on my mac

Hi Bernard,
Big Sur has generally been reported by other Jamulus users as OK.
I assume you've checked all the usual suspects like anti-virus, permissions or related process, rebooted etc.?
