Volker and others here have been SO incredibly helpful with issues we non-tech musicians have had in learning how to use this platform. We are so grateful!
One question still remains and is underlined today. Why, if we are in New Jersey, are we offered servers so far from where we live? I'm attaching a screenshot of the servers offered to us with today's new version. There is not one server in a State anywhere near us, and most of those offered are in Europe, with significant delays.
Is there any way, other than putting in our City, State and Country under Profile, that we can see and select servers which are nearby?
A quick look on the server list and I see a few in NYC. Have you considered running your own server? If you have an extra computer, it's not too tough to set one up. It doesn't have to be a particularly fast computer, just needs a hard-wired internet connection with a stable internet connection. The server doesn't need any audio interface, either.

We did figure that out, thanks. The issue still remains that we have NO servers in NJ or NY! None. Nothing is really close. A server we liked on the last version, called Moxie, was in Maine, I believe. It just doesn't compute that we're right here and we cannot find a server that's here.

Hi Allison, as you are a pro ( we were on the video conference with John), why don't you consider running your own server on AWS or Google. Simon Tomlinson has a great manual on how to do that. I found that the hosted servers have siginficantly better quality and stability anyways. The cost is very little, something like 3.50 a month. Then you can take it private when you teach or rehearse and make it public when you are off ... I am considering doing the same here in Germany clode to where I live; only being a little hesitant as I know in the end this will take a little longer than originally planned ... but it would be a worthwile effort for the bands I play with here

I haven't done it yet. Singing and teaching too much lol! I have a friend I made on here who is a developer (not on Jamulus) who is helping me to do that this week. Thank you!

Hi Alison,
With this version you can still see all of the servers we had before. Try changing the Genre in the top left of the window.

How are you getting on with setting up your own server Alison?

The free tier (t2.small) is fine for jamulus - you could keep the server on full time for a year and not incur cost.
