Maybe install default would be install as root. So that the temp and work files can be on removable media. Lives won't start when temp directory is on external media because they are owned by root and lives doesn't start as root unless I create a custom launcher. Maybe give an install option to allow tem file to be on external media.
This is not a LiVES issue, LiVES does not care who owns the temp directory, but the user running LiVES must have rwx permissions in order to be able to create new subdirectories.
You need to change the mount options for removable media so that all users have rwx permissions.
