opens. If I have any problems I'll bear in mind your comments about broken
builds.

I've installed Lives on Ubuntu 9.10. When starting it hangs at "starting jack
audio server". What can I do to overcome this?
Try with the pulse audio player.
Delete the file ~/.lives before starting the program, then select the pulse
audio player from the list which appears when you start up.
Note also that the ubuntu builds in Universe are broken, it is recommended
that you use the packages from www.getdeb.net
