I get this error message when I try to start Lives:
"LiVES was unable to use the temporary directory
Please check the <tempdir> setting in
(null) and try again."
And then it closes without starting.
I am not sure where to create a temp directory and/or where the <tempdir> setting is so I can point it to a location. I have uninstalled and re-installed twice including removing addons and also rebooting in between each un and re -install. I am running Ubuntu 13.04 and the current version on LiVES is the one I installed.
I can see a folder called livestmp in my home folder. But as far as I can tell the program is not linking to it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Please let me know if there is any other information you may need. Thanks in advance!!!
Hi,
I believe ubuntu are using an older version of LiVES which has this
problem. In fact the error you see is caused by one of two things:
either the version of smogrify is incorrect (you can check this by typing
"smogrify -version"), or the temporary directory is not writable.
In the current version of LiVES the correct error message is shown.
Gabriel.

#196Thanks for your help I will check on it tomorrow and let you know either
way. I'm not sure of the version number I have it is from the Ubuntu
software center so I thought it was the most current. If not I may have
to download it from the site and install on my own. Thanks again for
your response I will let you know how it turns out.
