Please if someone could reply.. Does anyone know if "lirc-0.6.5-fr3.i386.rpm" includes default support for the packard bell reciever? My guess is it was compiled with the -any option for reciever.. I have installed this, here is my modules.conf (nb **** is just to denote the interesting bits): [root@localhost tmp]# less /etc/modules.conf alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc alias eth0 8139too alias sound-slot-0 emu10k1 alias sound emu10k1 alias char-major-121 em8300 alias char-major-61 lirc_serial **** pre-install em8300 modprobe adv717x options em8300 dicom_fix=1 dicom_control=1 dicom_other_pal=0 options adv717x pixelport_16bit=0 pixelport_other_pal=0 options lirc_serial irq=4 io=0x03e8 **** post-install em8300 /usr/local/em8300/em8300setup/./em8300setup #insmod adv717x.o pixelport_16bit=0 pixelport_other_pal=0 #insmod em8300.o dicom_fix=1 dicom_control=1 dicom_other_pal=0 post-install em8300 /usr/local/em8300/em8300setup/./em8300setup when I try to test using mode2 i get: "#mode2 This program is only intended for receivers supporting the pulse/space layer. Note that this is no error, but this program simply makes no sense for your receiver." Is this because the pachard bell reciever can not be tested? I have rmmod serial, and edited modules.conf with the following settings.. I get the same error from mode2 eveytime.. Good news is module serial seems to be loading.. is there anything else I can test to ensure it's accepting the options?? [root@localhost tmp]# setserial /dev/ttyS0 /dev/ttyS0, UART: 16550A, Port: 0x03f8, IRQ: 4 [root@localhost tmp]# setserial /dev/ttyS1 /dev/ttyS1, UART: 16550A, Port: 0x02f8, IRQ: 3 [root@localhost tmp]# setserial /dev/ttyS2 /dev/ttyS2, UART: unknown, Port: 0x03e8, IRQ: 4 [root@localhost tmp]# setserial /dev/ttyS3 /dev/ttyS3, UART: unknown, Port: 0x02e8, IRQ: 3 This remote worked on wondows so i'm assuming the hardware is fine... Here is lsmod after mode2 is run.. [root@localhost src]# lsmod Module Size Used by Not tainted serial 48356 0 (autoclean) em8300 47300 0 (autoclean) adv717x 4280 0 (unused) i2c-algo-bit 8296 2 [em8300] i2c-core 18372 0 [adv717x i2c-algo-bit] nls_iso8859-1 3516 0 (autoclean) soundcore 6244 1 (autoclean) [em8300] ide-cd 31556 0 (autoclean) cdrom 30848 0 (autoclean) [ide-cd] Is that the module is should be pulling??? Also, I hace tried to CVS and can get ./setup to run.. but it tells me I don't have my sources installed.. This is OT: but when I try to "ln -d -F linux-2.4.20 linux" I get "ln: creating hard link `linux' to `linux-2.4.20': Operation not permitted" even as su.. it seems redhat8.0 installation can make the simlink but i cannot.. as stated already i am _VERY_ new at this.. am i using the wrong command? And lastly: if I run ./setup, are these setting saved anywhere so i can pass them to ./configure manually? I guess I could pass these settings and pass the kernal source dir as well... But my attempts so far have been usussessful.. Any response is welcome... |
