Yes, lirc 0.9.0 is targeted at newer kernels, but will also work with some slightly older kernels, using backported IR driver stacks via: http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_Obtain,_Build_and_Install_V4L-DVB_Device_Drivers For example, I've been using that atop a 2.6.32-based Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 kernel for some of my own needs. > I am using Debian Unstable and an 0.9.0 package > > # dpkg -l | grep lirc > ii liblircclient0 0.9.0~pre1-1 infra-red remote control support - client library > ii lirc 0.9.0~pre1-1 infra-red remote control support > ii lirc-x 0.9.0~pre1-1 infra-red remote control support - X utilities > > Would it be possible to run mceusb in this combination? I know the media_build stuff aims to support at least as far back as 2.6.32, but I don't know that anyone is actively working on making sure it works on anything older than that, so 2.6.31.x *might* work, but there are no guarantees. Alternatively, the lirc 0.8.7 bits should work just fine for older kernels back as far as 2.6.0, iirc. I don't know that they've been particularly well tested on anything older than ~2.6.16 though. Personally, 2.6.32 is really the oldest kernel I care about anymore, with respect to lirc. (Those who know what my day job is probably know I'm also fairly invested in caring about the 2.6.18 kernel, but there's no lirc necessary there... :) -- Jarod Wilson ja...@wi... |
