Hallo, I have OpenSUSE 11.2 x86_64 with kernel 2.6.31 and X10 wireless USB remote. I am using this remote about a year with no problems, but last week I upgraded OpneSUSE from 11.1 to 11.2. It means that I changed Lirc from 0.8.4 to 0.8.5 and changed kernel from 2.6.29 (vanilla kernel compiled with added DVB-T driver) to 2.6.31. I am using irxevent and irexec. But after update, remote control is working only exactly 1 minute after irxevent start. This appears in system log: Nov 15 01:17:17 vodic-server lircd-0.8.5[2274]: caught signal Nov 15 01:18:29 vodic-server lircd-0.8.5[2202]: lircd(atilibusb) ready Nov 15 01:19:22 vodic-server lircd-0.8.5[2202]: accepted new client on /var/run/lirc/lircd Nov 15 01:19:23 vodic-server lircd-0.8.5[2202]: accepted new client on /var/run/lirc/lircd Nov 15 01:20:23 vodic-server lircd-0.8.5[3362]: can't read from USB device: Connection timed out After the "timed out" message, remote control stops responding and if I write down "ps -A | grep lircd", I can see two running lircd processes, but one of them is marked as <defunct>. To make it working again it's enough to kill irxevent and irexec and start them again. I am using my computer as home theater, so I had to write script, which is restarting lircd (just to be sure), irxevent and irxexec every 30 seconds. It is working well, but it is really dirty solution. I am not sure, but I think, that if I am pressing buttons, time out comes later. Wife is watching TV, so no more testing is possible now ;) I also tried to upgrade lirc to 0.8.6., but nothing changed. Thanks in advance for any help, Petr Vodicka |
