I've been trying to get a remote to work with MythTV from a macbook's infrared device. I think I have it set up correctly. I've looked all over MythTV's setup, and tried searching the web, but there doesn't seem to be any indication of how I might tell MythTV to use Lirc, or how I might tell it which button I want to do what, so I guess maybe it's supposed to just work, but it doesn't. So the natural next step seems to be to verify that Lirc is working. lircd loads without complaint, but aside from that, I can't figure out how to verify that it is actually doing anything. I tried "cat /dev/lircd" but that simply results in "cat: /dev/lircd: No such device or address," but then it is a fifo rather than a normal device file, so for all I know that is expected behavior. Does there exist some simple test program that will simply connect to lircd and print out any remote control signals that are detected?
