Atmel Serial IR Receiver

hello,

i have built a reciever that uses an atmega88 for decoding the ir signals.
after decoding it puts the ascii data to the serial port followed by a line
feed and carriage return. the data is very simple like "3061" for the power
knob of a hauppauge remote. the "30" shows the remote address and "61" is
the command.

i would really like to use this with lirc but don´t really know where to
start and if it is possible.

any help would be really great.
