Multiple remotes

I am running multiseat 
http://wiki.c3sl.ufpr.br/multiseat/index.php/Main_Page and I'd like to 
be able to attach an LIRC remote to a particular session.  AFAICT lirc 
sends stuff to all sessions. 

Is it possible to tie an lirc instance to a particular X session?  ISTR 
a discussion some time ago about a uinput / evdev type interface.

Did anything ever come of this?
