I have successfully managed to control an Onkyo TX-SV9041 (dating from the time when Dolby Prologic was the finest thing on earth) with the so-called MR-connectors. This is just the modulated IR-signal inverted. However, the RI is probably a different animal. <guessing_mode> Most likely, they just contain the ir-signal, with or (like Sony Control-S format) without the modulation frequency, possibly inverted.
