Rob, Unfortunately, as you ve seen, no one has ventured an answer to my questions yet ... On the positive note, I did find a lircd.conf that worked with my URC7730 (it was posted on a german forum), and it works like a charm. However, I wish someone would explain why irrecord doesnt produce two identical files and why the URC7730 lirc-provided config file does not work with that remote.
