Inject IR codes into LIRC?

Hi all,
 
  Is their a way to inject IR codes into the daemon? eg. so that it 
would act as if the IR had been received from a physical interface.

  I guess I am asking for a dummy driver that accepts data.

  The reason I ask is for an application where I have a piece of 
equipment (a Slim Devices SqueezeBox) located next to a TV displaying 
MythTV. I don't want to place another receiver on the wall, I would like 
to use the data being received by the SqueezeBox. The SqueezeBox reports 
it's received IR codes, so all I need to do is inject those codes in the 
MythTV system's LIRC stack.

  Failing the above idea, does anybody know of a simple keyboard event 
injector for X windows???
