Any solution to DCT700 zero key?

I have seen several posts from years past about not being able to
properly send the zero key to a DCT700, but have not seen a (real)
solution posted.  Has anyone figured this out yet?

I have a channel-change script that direct-dials the nearest
non-zero-included channel and then does CH+/- operations to hit the
right one.  It works very reliably, but it would be nice to have a real
solution.
