So I got lirc all built and installed, not sure what to do next. For openers, I am not sure what com it is on, or even if it is on - the bios setup is 1.5 pages, and nothing seems relevant. I didn't see anything in dmesg about it. Shouldn't I be able to probe all the posable places and see what is where? Some things I have read: http://tuxmobil.org/ir_misc.html "Satellite Pro 4600 - works, see Linux/IrDA archiv " http://www.pasta.cs.uit.no/pipermail/linux-irda/2001-October/003262.html dead link. but "for all Toshiba models see Toshiba IrDA HOWTO by Guenther Wieser" http://www.creative-it.com/linux/irda/toshiba_irda_howto.html where it says modprobe toshoboe # for Toshiba notebooks using toshoboe I need to do this? Hope not, because: root@snubby:/usr/src/linux # find ./ -name "toshoboe*" (nothing) > If you use the kernel tools to attach the IR port to a tty than lircd to > that tty it should. I have not tried but was looking at my Vaio the > other day and the thought crossed my mind. Um... what? Am I on the right track: root@snubby:/usr/src/linux # cat /etc/modules.conf alias char-major-61 lirc_serial options lirc_serial irq=4 io=0x3e8 Just for kicks: root@snubby:/usr/src/linux # ps -C lircd PID TTY TIME CMD root@snubby:/usr/src/linux # irrecord /tmp/foo irrecord - application for recording IR-codes for usage with lirc Copyright (C) 1998,1999 Christoph Bartelmus(li...@ba...) irrecord: could not open /dev/lirc irrecord: default_init(): No such device or address irrecord: could not init hardware (lircd running ? --> close it, check permissions) root@snubby:/usr/src/linux # ls -l /dev/lirc* crwxrwxrwx 1 root root 61, 0 2005-04-13 19:45 /dev/lirc srwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 2005-04-13 21:03 /dev/lircd prwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 2005-04-13 19:46 /dev/lircm Carl K |
