Subject: Lirc and Gentoo dev kernel I am using gentoo with the developement kernel sources. I am in kernel 2.6.8-gentoo-r3 right now and having problems with lirc. I can emerge lirc and find the lirc_serial and lirc_dev modules built by default. As I am using an Audigy2, I would like the gpio drivers built, so I've added LIRC_OPTS="--with-driver=gpio" to the /etc/make.conf so it builds with gpio, however lirc's build bombs out during the configure script with: checking for Linux kernel sources... /usr/src/linux/ checking for which drivers can be installed on this system... checking for caraca_init in -lcaraca_client... no checking for ir_strerror in -lirman... no checking for ir_strerror in -lirman_sw... no checking for portaudio.h... no checking for alsa/asoundlib.h... yes checking for snd_pcm_open in -lasound... yes configure: error: *** it is not possible to install the specified driver on this system !!! ERROR: app-misc/lirc-0.7.0_pre7 failed. !!! Function econf, Line 362, Exitcode 1 !!! econf failed My question is where can I go from here? is there something else I need to configure, or is there something I can do to help folks figure out any issues with 2.6.8 and lirc? let me know if I can help the effort, or if you have experience that may help my predicament. Thanks everyone -- -Nathaniel R. Ben-Attar nbe...@au... (505)453-7565 ________________________ Linux: The choice of a GNU generation How many Unix hacks does it take to change a light bulb?
