Hi all, Thanks for the info!! I managed to use the lirc_serial successfully, and now I see the led blinks. I'll send a detailed report of what I did later (when I see this actually transmit anything) but in general the solution was to use lircd -d /dev/lirc/0 (thnx again christoph!) The problem is I haven't yet used my receiver... The question goes like this: is there support for the flyvideo2000 card (the one with the saa7130 chip, not the bttv one) and if there is how can I install it. I have installed the lirc_gpio module but it is trying to load the bttv module, I don't need the bttv module (or do I?) since it is not suitable for my card. saa7134 module is installed on my machine and modprobe seems to work with it. here is the dmesg log: Linux video capture interface: v1.00 saa7130/34: v4l2 driver version 0.2.10 loaded PCI: Enabling device 00:0d.0 (0004 -> 0006) PCI: Found IRQ 7 for device 00:0d.0 PCI: Sharing IRQ 7 with 00:04.2 PCI: Sharing IRQ 7 with 00:04.3 PCI: Sharing IRQ 7 with 00:09.0 saa7130[0]: found at 00:0d.0, rev: 1, irq: 7, latency: 32, mmio: 0xdd000000 saa7130[0]: subsystem: 5168:0138, board: LifeView FlyVIDEO2000 [card=3,autodetected] saa7130[0]: board init: gpio is 38500 saa7130[0]: registered input device for IR saa7130[0]: i2c eeprom 00: 68 51 38 01 10 28 ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff saa7130[0]: i2c eeprom 10: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff saa7130[0]: i2c eeprom 20: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff saa7130[0]: i2c eeprom 30: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff tuner: chip found @ 0xc2 tuner: type set to 37 (LG PAL (newer TAPC series)) saa7130[0]: registered device video0 [v4l2] saa7130[0]: registered device vbi0 saa7130[0]: registered device radio0 I see this when I do "modprobe saa7134", And then when pressing on the remote: saa7130[0]: build_key gpio=0x4078500 mask=0xec00000 data=8 saa7130[0]: build_key gpio=0x38500 mask=0xec00000 data=0 saa7130[0]: build_key gpio=0x4078500 mask=0xec00000 data=8 saa7130[0]: build_key gpio=0x38500 mask=0xec00000 data=0 this is the part from /proc/pci: Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. I don't get new lines in dmesg with other (non-flyvideo) remotes, but I want to record another remote.
