At ispcs in 2017, there were few projects and proposals on this. IIRC, one
was a smart city paper.
You might want to check the ispcs archives.

I believe 2 of  companies sponsoring the research were IK4 IKERLAN, and the
other Olzetech, Inc.
Thought it was pretty interesting stuff.

As far as I know PTP isn't usable over WiFi.  I'm sure Richard can explain
the details better than I.

Planning to test linux ptp over wifi( WLM -200NX radio card) but not sure
whether it will work or not.

So far its working fine on NXP ethernet driver (gianfar.c).

While i'm checking wireless capability via ethtool, getting following
output,
