Hello from Gregg C Levine Here's a question: Are there new tools for the Dreamcast project? All of the ones I have, are dated to be from the Summer of 2001. Such as the SH-boot for that period, and the kernel-boot file. For example, I checked with our friends at the eCos list, and they tell me, that the Dreamcast directory on both the version 2.0, and current branch are all donated code, so that's not something I am worried about. I'm new to the DClinux project, I think there is a lot of potential in the project. I'm interested in doing a lot with my dreamcast. I need documentation, I have ran into some doumentation on the hardware, but I would like to figure out how the OS actually gets going and such, and maybe even try to make my own distro for DC. Would any of you know some good documentation online that will help me along the way? I noticed that a lot of people lack the hardware (network adapter) that can really get them started. I was wondering, do any of you know if it would be possible to turn the bus that the modem goes into into a PCI or ISA port? Also, I read that the gd-rom runs on a scsi bus, can you install a HD on that bus, or even a cdrom or DVD drive. Thank you for your time and effort, Josh |

I'm presently building the kernel with 3.2, and haven't noticed any such compilation problems. Since you likely aren't interested in initramfs to begin with, you can simply pop open usr/initramfs_data.S and remove the incbin line altogether if the problem persists. The relevant sections will still be generated by the ld script, so you should still be able to link just fine by doing this. Anyways, here's my 2.6.0-test1 .config if you want to try with this instead, though I suspect this same issue will happen since it appears to be more of an assembler issue. |

I've also run into both register and stack corruption with 3.4 when using things like __builtin_return_address(). I've posted the 3.2 patch at: =09 http://www.stampede.org/~lethal/gcc-3.2-sh.diff Most of this is derived from the uClibc toolchain patches. It also looks like Kojima-san has a 3.2.2 patch at: http://dodo.nurs.or.jp/~kkojima/gnu-on-sh/gcc-3.2.2-tmp.diff.gz Though I have no idea how reliable it is. Optionally, Sugioka-san has prebuilt 3.2.3 rpms at: http://www.sh-linux.org/rpm-index-2003/index.html Again, I'm not sure how well these work, as I've not tested them myself. |

Not sure this is really a linuxdc/sh question at all - but: I am still working on vmufs on my Dreamcast and want to mess about with=20 "rename" - however when I run it I get error messages like: Bareword "CHU_CHU__RCT" not allowed while "strict subs" in use at (eval 1= )=20 line 1 A google suggests this is a perl error message! It has nothing to do with my file system as it happens on the NFS mounted= fs=20 too. What is going on? (I am using the m17n debian unstable as my distro) |
