After more experimentation the most fundamental problem of booting the Dreamcast with recent (2.6.12) linux kernels seems to be something to do with the operation of dcload-ip (or dc-tool-ip). (Kernels uploaded via serial cable seem to work, but loaded via bba fail) Is anyone aware of any possible reason for this? Or has anybody been able to build a recent kernel and boot it over the bba? There is a 2.6.12 zImage for the Dreamcast at http://newgolddream.dyndns.info/zImage --- can someone tell me if they can get it to boot? It forces my DC to reboot and I am trying to isolate the problem I have with failed DC boots. (As a reward there is a bootable 2.4.20 kernel at http://newgolddream.dyndns.info/zImage-2.4.20 - it expects an nfs root - it supports sound and vmu) Adrian |
