We just released new version 9.55 for beta testing. As of this date (22Nov2023) you can find it in our Beta Test download area at SourceForge.net here:
If no problems are found by beta testers, we will release this for production in early Jan2024 (and at that point it will be removed from the beta test download area).
Most of the changes in this version are focused on improved behavior of LAC's "bots", but there are also some changes in the video and audio special effects resulting from accelerated stalls.
As always, you can read about the changes in this and all other published versions in our online ChangeLog page here:
I discovered problems with the beta-test AppImages for this version 9.55 that were published on the 22nd and 23rd of Nov2023. Accordingly, I have deleted those two AppImages. I updated the ChangeLog accordingly. Here is the resulting new text from the ChangeLog:
========================
UPDATE 24NOV2023: WE JUST DISCOVERED A PROBLEM WITH THE TWO APPIMAGE VERSIONS OF THIS BETA TEST SOFTWARE. BOTH LACK THE PROPERLY UPDATED SOUND FILES NAMED "chaff1.wav" and "WindNoise.wav" and accordingly, THE NEW SOUND EFFECTS ASSOCIATED WITH ACCELERATED STALLS DO NOT SOUND THE WAY THEY SHOULD. IN FACT, THEY SOUND SILLY. SORRY ABOUT THAT! THE TWO PROBLEMATIC APPIMAGES WERE:
Lac955Beta-x86_64.AppImage (As published 22Nov2023) and
Lac955SteamDeckBeta-x86_64.AppImage (As published 23Nov2023).
The Source Code archive is correct, so if you want to hear those new sound effects as intended, you should compile from this published version:
We are traveling outside our lab and cannot fix this until we return from our road trip. At that point we will update this ChangeLog with detailed instructions for replacing the two faulty AppImages with better ones.
===========================
Until I return from my trip and can use my AppImage lab to rebuild those two AppImages, your best options are:
1- Compile the beta test software from the source code archive Lac09p55Beta.tar.gz (As published 22Nov2023) , or
Update 04Dec2023: I just returned from my road trip, fired up my AppImage lab, and fixed the AppImage for version 9.55. It has been uploaded to the "BetaTest" folder of our SourceForge download archives according to the usual pattern. Here's a link to that folder:
We fixed and re-published the SteamDeck version of Linux Air Combat on 11Dec2023. Find it in the same "BetaTestVersions" folder referenced above, alongside all of the other Beta-Test 9.55 versions.

We just promoted version 9.55 from "Beta-Test" to "Production" status. Accordingly, you will no longer find any of our 9.55 versions in the "Beta-Test" download page. You can find them all in the various other, production download pages. Browse for them according to your desktop LINUX platform, commencing here:

2- Use the production version 9.51 from HERE, or
3- If on a Raspberry Pi, use the beta-test Pi Source code or the compiled version 9.55 HERE
SteamDeck users should continue with the current production version 9.48 HERE.
We will update this thread when the two beta-test 9.55 AppImages are repaired and republished in our SourceForge Beta Test page.
