I've spent the last few days flying, recording, and improving a set of new "Replay Bloke" sorties in Network Battle 07, Realm01. (Network Battle 07 is one of our little-used beta-test missions).

They are all now flying continuously, and I am happy with the results.

As usual, most of the activity originates from the RedTeam, orchestrating a wide variety of new strike sorties against BlueTeam airfields, in a new combination of aircraft, including:

A squadron of Lancasters
A squadron of B24s
A squadron of Sturmoviks
A squadron of SB2Cs

In each case, the RedTeam replay blokes fly in tight formations. Various BlueTeam interceptor Blokes harass and shoot at these RedTeam strike aircraft, damaging most of them and shooting a few of them down.

These sophisticated, coordinated RedTeam replay blokes create a great challenge for our more experienced players, who will want to oppose them on the BlueTeam. Of course, Sentient players can join either team, generally replacing, opposing, or augmenting the replay blokes as you might expect. Beginners will likely prefer to join the RedTeam. The resulting challenge and variety is almost endless.

If you fly for the BlueTeam against one of the squadrons of RedTeam aircraft, BE CAREFUL! Their massed tail gunners are deadly! I have had best success with head-on attacks, or taking long-range shots at the trailing RedTeam aircraft and gradually working my way forward through their formation, taking out one opponent at a time from the rear. When I get too close to multiple opponents (and especially if I blunder into their formation so I get surrounded), my aircraft suffers terribly and I often get shot down. Patience is key!

I hope you enjoy this new opportunity to exercise Linux Air Combat in a different environment!

  :)
