"Peabody's Mission" has now become my favorite! It's the newest mission, having only recently been finished. (It originated among the batch of 7 that had all been marked "TEST" until it was promoted to production status and its "TEST" label was removed.)

Larger and more complex than any of the three "classic" missions, victory requirements for Peabody's Mission demand destruction of TWO heavily defended airfields instead of just one. Furthermore, each team's HQ airfield has extra anti-aircraft defenses originating from an adjacent artillery battery atop a nearby hill. Ongoing, automated airfield repair activities make it difficult to achieve victory unless several players work cooperatively to keep the pressure on both opposing fields while defending both friendly fields. When both sides are evenly matched, it can require several hours for one side to prevail over the other.

In contrast with other popular missions whose action is mostly in Realm00, the best experience with Peabody's Mission is now available in Realm01, as a consequence of a successful experiment to minimize network jitter. In any of the missions in Realm01, you will notice that network packets update positions twice as frequently, resulting in much smoother visual position updating as you watch other online Sentient Players or Replay Blokes.

As of this writing in early January of 2021, LAC's server always has a series of immersive Replay Missions active for Peabody's Mission in Realm01. All of these populate the mission with RedTeam Replay Blokes that make continuous strikes versus BlueTeam airfields. Some of these strikes hit BlueTeam airfields from squadrons of high altitude, strategic bombers, while others are low-level strafing and rocket attacks from squadrons that spend most of their time flying so low among canyons and valleys that they cannot be detected by RADAR, forcing the opposition to rely on the "Vocalize" facility to request position updates by radio.

To enjoy this new mission to the fullest, you will want to update your version of LAC beyond V8.38.

One interesting way to experience this mission as a member of BlueTeam is simply to park on your own HQ runway for half an hour or so and watch the action. Select your own secondary airfield as the target of your cockpit monitoring instruments so you can see status reports revealing the way it suffers from damage from high altitude bombs and the way that damage is subsequently repaired between strikes. From time to time you will hear explosions all around as bombs strike your own HQ airfield, or you may see squadrons of fighter-bombers pop up, make strafing runs, and then dive back down below RADAR level as they flee back toward their home bases. If you don't make any effort to oppose these Replay Blokes, your RADAR will be shut down and then repaired several times as your BlueTeam facilities are gradually whittled away. Within about half an hour your team will be defeated. You can keep your side alive a lot longer if you actively oppose those enemy squadrons, but if you are going to truly prevail, you will need help from one or more BlueTeam Sentients!

Here is a video clip showing recent activity by three Sentient BlueTeam players opposing RedTeam Replay Blokes in Realm01 as I've been describing (this was captured from LAC V8.40 on a Raspberry Pi):
