LAC gets updated frequently. Most updates are not required and remain interoperable with prior versions, but it's nice to get the latest version. That's what this forum is for.

Help for programmers writing LAC missions.

The LAC community makes extensive use of the free, well-known "mumble" internet voice application as the basis for live, interplayer communication. Use this forum to report and discuss use of Mumble with Linux Air Combat, including any problems and their resolution.

Since May of 2020, LAC can optionally generate additional audio speech during some of the more advanced missions. This option requires installation of the free, well-known "espeak" application. This is the forum for discussing use of LAC and espeak.

Linux Air Combat runs on Raspberry Pi with sufficient performance to enjoy all of its features when resolution is kept at 720p or lower. Players using Raspberry Pi hardware can even compete effectively online among players equipped with expensive, gaming-class computers! This forum is for anything about LAC on Raspberry Pi that's specific to Raspberry Pi users.

Linux Air Combat runs nicely on Manjaro desktop LINUX. In fact, we did a lot of LAC's development work on Manjaro. Because of Manjaro's "ARCH" roots, the well-known "AUR" ("Arch User Repository") which now supports LAC also makes LAC very easy to install on Manjaro. This forum is for discussion of Linux Air Combat on Manjaro platforms. The intention is to cover any details, hints, quirks, or optimizations that are unique to LAC in a Manjaro environment.

LAC runs well on MX Linux, but their joystick support is sometimes quirky. This forum is for discussion of hints, tips, and quirks that are specific to use of LAC in an MX Linux environment.

Linux Air Combat is fully supported in the official "AUR" (Arch User Repository) for full compatibility and easy installation.

Linux Air Combat runs nicely on SLAXX Linux, allowing a convenient, portable LAC system you can carry around with you on bootable USB flash media or "thumbdrive".

A companion to Linux Air Combat, the "LacMenuLauncher" creates an alternative set of menus that can be manipulated with keyboard commands from a bash shell. It is compatible with LINUX platforms that are incompatible with LAC's built-in menus.
