There's no difference, uvcview has been renamed to luvcview (naming issue, 
uvcview is a Microsoft software).

Kopete 0.11 (KDE 3.5.0) should detect the webcam. If it doesn't, have a look 
at the kernel log to see if there's anything related to the UVC driver.
