Hello, Here belowyou will find SQ11 VS Logitech C920 syslog comparison. SQ11 is lagging while C920 is fluid. Could you please help ? Thanks in advance, Maurice http://csindustry1.free.fr/SQ11/syslog_SQ11 http://csindustry1.free.fr/SQ11/syslog_C920 |

Hello, I try to get fluid (let's say > 10fps) with SQ11 (cheap chinese webcam) on a Raspberry Pi 4 running on Raspbian. The cool thing is that the uvc driver works fine and I can recompile it from sources (e.g to solve this problem; if needed). The other cool thing is that I get fluid display with Logitech C920 cam with Python + Opencv, or qv4l2 or ffmpeg, whatever (30fps) using the uvc driver too. The bad thing is that with the SQ11 I only get 2-3 fps when the cam move rapidly, but I get high fps (10fps) when the cam is steady (no joke !) I can reproduce this slow FPS on the C920 with setting exposure_absolute to extra high value (e.g > 2000), so my idea was to set exposure_absolute=300 for the SQ11 but this parameter seems to be locked or not accessible (see below). So is there any possibility to make the picture fluid ? Btw, the thing comes from the driver or Rpi, not the cam, because I can get fluid image on Windows7. Hello everybody, I previously posted to lin...@li... which seems to be dead. This chinese camera does not initialize correctly at boot: Bus 003 Device 004: ID 0408:2090 Quanta Computer, Inc. I have a usb webcam which is not on the supported list. It is not working. My distro is Ubuntu 18.04, uname output is "Linux Be 4.15.0-106-generic #107-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 4 11:27:52 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux" Steps to reproduce 1. Connect the usb webcam. The device seems to be detected. It is a uvc device. 2. Next dmesg (after enabling) traces, shows a bunch of errors. 3. Starting 'cheese' just hangs or does not detect the camera, Other apps behave in the same fashion. Attached is the dmesg with trace enabled and the lsusb output. Hope this helps to find the problem and a fix. Thanks Mahesh |

Hi, I found a different thread on this camera from a month ago ( https://sourceforge.net/p/linux-uvc/mailman/message/37001224/) but here's my take on the problem. If you have any pointers on where I should be looking at next, let me know I've just received this camera today and I'm trying to use it on my Ubuntu 20.04 machine. When I first tried to use it, it worked at 640x480 and 30fps. However whenever I tried to raise the resolution (this cam is supposed to work at FullHD at 60fps) I got a blank screen. After a while the camera didn't seem to work at all so I rebooted my machine and tried to do a video chat call. People could see me. The camera seemed to be working at 640x480 but the mic wasn't working. The other person could only hear noise. If I keep the resolution low I can get the camera to work once. After it works it spits out an error: [10066.231871] usb 4-1: reset SuperSpeed Gen 1 USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd [10093.078665] xhci_hcd 0000:04:00.0: ERROR Transfer event for disabled endpoint slot 2 ep 2 [10093.078676] xhci_hcd 0000:04:00.0: @0000000c355826a0 93cd6d80 0000000b 1b000000 02038000 and after that, unplugging and replugging the camera will return [10496.912699] usb 4-1: reset SuperSpeed Gen 1 USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd [10502.158976] usb 4-1: device descriptor read/8, error -110 [10502.266732] usb 4-1: reset SuperSpeed Gen 1 USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd [10507.534871] usb 4-1: device descriptor read/8, error -110 [10507.851976] usb 4-1: reset SuperSpeed Gen 1 USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd [10512.910744] usb 4-1: device descriptor read/8, error -110 [10513.018558] usb 4-1: reset SuperSpeed Gen 1 USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd # errno 110 ETIMEDOUT 110 Connection timed out This only gets fixed by rebooting the pc. the modules being loaded by the camera are: videobuf2_vmalloc videobuf2_v4l2 tw5864 uvcvideo It also seems to increase the "used" count for snd and snd_usb_audio When I connect the device, this is what I'm getting from dmesg: [ 87.511959] usb 4-1: new SuperSpeed Gen 1 USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd [ 87.539599] usb 4-1: New USB device found, idVendor=046d, idProduct=0893, bcdDevice= 3.17 [ 87.539601] usb 4-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 [ 87.539601] usb 4-1: Product: Logitech StreamCam [ 87.539602] usb 4-1: SerialNumber: 54A94715 [ 87.561582] usb 4-1: current rate 16000 is different from the runtime rate 24000 [ 87.567091] usb 4-1: current rate 16000 is different from the runtime rate 32000 [ 87.572828] usb 4-1: current rate 16000 is different from the runtime rate 48000 [ 87.591484] hid-generic 0003:046D:0893.0008: hiddev3,hidraw5: USB HID v1.11 Device [Logitech StreamCam] on usb-0000:04:00.0-1/input5 [ 87.603920] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Logitech StreamCam (046d:0893) [ 87.620081] uvcvideo 4-1:1.0: Entity type for entity Processing 3 was not initialized! Does the camera not work? If a UVC device is implemented properly, it can work out of the box, regardless of whether the ID is known or not. As the comment in uvc_driver.c points out, device that *don't* properl announce themselves as UVC are listed there. Secondly: Your exact ID is listed under the supported devices, even if not as a Creative device. Perhaps Creative relabels Vivimicro's devices for this sake. It should, according to the ID, work. Thirdly, some behavior can be tweaked by quirks. I don't know, though, whether one device can be forced to be handled exactly like another. Regards, Moritz |

Hi! I have a "Creative Live! Cam Socialize" (not HD) webcam that announces itself in dmesg as follows: Found UVC 1.00 device Vimicro USB 2.0 PC Camera (Venus) (0ac8:3420) The website http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/#footnote-16 says creative labs cameras are supported by uvc. I thought it might be possible to simply change the driver to treat the camera the same way it treats other creative labs cameras. However I cannot find vendor ID 041e in uvc_driver.c. What am I missing here, shouldn't uvc_driver.c contain all VID's that are compatible? Thanks for any help Lasse |

Well, I can't "see" the webcam in cheese or qv4l2, in cheese I can't even select it manually, and in Microsoft Teams I can select it but it says that video doesn't work. Not a full success if you ask me. Xav |

Hello, I have a USB film scanner 0c45:6353 which reports two capture modes: - 592×392 @ 30 fps in (correct) YUYV 4:2:2 - 1184×1576 @ 5 fps in (incorrect) YUYV 4:2:2 A raw frame shows that the second mode actually outputs RGGB Bayer format (probably V4L2_PIX_FMT_SRGGB8). Is there a quirk to change the image format reported by the device descriptor? Here is the descriptor for this device: https://sourceforge.net/p/linux-uvc/mailman/message/32851186/ Cheers, Adrien |

Hi Severin I'm in the same boat and got the streamcam due to covid19. I also had trouble getting it recognised and working. I tried the usb c port on my motherboard and had a similar issue (asrock x470 taichi). Not that this is a potential solution for you, but I'm a gamer and have a Nvidia 2080 and discovered it has a usb c port for VR devices. I've put the webcam into that and it's been working.
