Problems accessing rewritable discs created by DirectCD
Brought to you by:

There are some problems when accessing
rewritable Media (CD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-RW)
created with DirectCD under Windows XP
in SuSE 9.1 (2.6.x kernel 32 Bit) and
UDF 0.9.8.1.
Mount is OK. No error messages in
/var/adm/messages.
Hovewer ls command displays errors
/bin/ls: /media/dvd/test1.txt: No such file or directory
/bin/ls: /media/dvd/test2.txt: No such file or directory
/bin/ls: /media/dvd/test_dir: No such file or directory
It is not possible to change (cd) into a directory
on the CD.
However, everything works fine with older
Suse Versions (9.0, 8.2, 8.1 all eith 2.4.x kernel)
Same behaviour with NEC 1300 multinorm DVD writer and
Samsung DVD ROM.
Any suggestion ?

Vlad

I have the same problem since I installed Fedora Core 2
(includes kernel 2.6.5), I cannot access properly to CD's
written either with pktcdvd under linux or DirectCD under
Windows. After mounting the disk I can see (with ls -l) only
the name of the directories in the root directory, but the
permissions, owner, group, date ... do not show up . I
cannot get into thes directories. I have compiled kernel
2.6.6 and booting with it does not solve the problem.
Fortunately, I have kept a copy of kernel 2.6.3. Booting
with it, I can read the disk without problems.
Something odd has been introduced in the udf module since
kernel 2.6.3.
