New LinuxQ83 kopernik 13.14 ,is a modern, lightweight Linux distribution focused on performance, usability, and innovation. It features the COSMIC Desktop, a next-generation environment written in Rust, offering high performance, stability, and memory safety.

COSMIC provides a clean and customizable interface for efficient window and workspace management. The system is suitable for both older and newer hardware thanks to its low resource usage.

LinuxQ83 also uses Nushell as its default shell, also written in Rust, enabling modern, structured data handling. Additionally, it can support Cinnamon, a traditional and user-friendly desktop environment similar to classic Windows layouts.

Features

  • The Linux Q83 project was registered on SourceForge on August 20, 2021.[2] In the following years, the project was developed for both AMD64 and ARM64 architectures. The project documentation also includes information on installing the system on the Raspberry Pi 4 and configuring the system.[5] On **August 3, 2026**, the first test release of the **Linux Q83 Kopernik 2028** series was made available. The release, designated **Kopernik 2028-01**, is being developed based on the [Debian] Testing branch (Forky), unlike the stable Linux Q83 13.x releases, which are based on the stable version of Debian. The **Kopernik 2028** series is intended as a testing series and is developed alongside changes in the Debian Testing branch. The goal of the project is to further develop the operating system, update its packages, and adapt the distribution for the future stable release of Debian. As the testing branch evolves, subsequent Linux Q83 Kopernik 2028 releases will receive updates and bug fixes until Debian reaches stable status. Once Debian becomes stable, the testing phase of the Kopernik 2028 series is planned to end, and the series will be designated **Linux Q83 Kopernik 14.00**.
  • **Linux Q83 13.14** (13.xx branch) and **Linux Q83 12.13** (12.xx branch) are based on the stable Debian release, providing a reliable and well-tested system for everyday use. In contrast, **Linux Q83 2028** is based on Debian Testing. This new release introduces many significant changes, including updated packages, newer kernel support, improved hardware compatibility, and various system enhancements. Because it follows Debian Testing, Linux Q83 2028 receives newer software and features much earlier than the stable branches. While it is continuously improved and suitable for users who want the latest technologies, it may occasionally include changes that are still being refined before becoming part of a future stable Debian release.
  • The arm64 Raspberry Pi 4 version, linux-q83-kopernik-cinnamon-13.14, is stable.
  • Linux Q83 Kopernik version 13.14 stable has been released for ARM64 (Raspberry Pi 4) with the (Cosmic desktop )environment, written in Rust.
