I noticed that in many drivers, the total number of VPI+VCI bits is a preset value, like 12 or 14 bits. The network I need to connect to has VPI set to a static number (between 16 and 32) and VCI between 40 and ~2500. I cannot change the VPI. However it seems like with for example 12 bits of VPI/VCI you can only use 4096 VCCs on VPI 0, not on VPI 16. Is that a generic limitation of all ATM cards? I looked at the nicstar and he155 drivers, and it seems like for those cards the limitation is there. Chas, you can probably tell me if that is true for the he155 .. Thanks for any insights, Mike. |
