Yesterday I also noticed that 4.2.1 trashes my root partition :( If you're using A4000 you most probably use scsi drivers for harddisk. Does it mean that we have only partial solution for A1200 ide problem ? Can you copy your partition to ide disk and check whether then it is stable ?
