Kernal-2.4.18-2

Hi,
After trying all the 2.4.? kernals, I have found they fail on my system at the PCI probe.(why it fails on my machine and not on others, I cannot
understand, but...) 
Kernal 2.4.18 doesn't fail at this point but probes for the Ide doubler and then seems to fail due to some keyboard problem.
Is there any way round this problem. I have a power computing keyboard interface attached to a pc keyboard.
I s there anything I can do, or is there a fix to be implemented into a new kernal?
