Hi, I still have some problem with 2.4.x kernels: when it comes to havy disk activity (e. g. cp -a /usr/src/linux /tmp), the system hangs (i. e. heart beat stops). Should this be an A3000T only problem? The same hardware configuration works properly with 2.2.10. Meanwhile, I've checked my SCSI configuration again (active termination, short cable length, small number of devices), but it is ok. Then I removed all expansion boards except "Ariadne" -- without success. At the moment, I'm using the latest kernel image from sourceforge, because I thought, maybe my self compiled kernel shows this problem due to bugs in certain verions of gcc/binutils, but the problem still exists. I've even tried the new driver for the UW SCSI controller (it works perfectly till heart beat stops), but there is no change according to my problem. Finally, I started a fresh FTP installation of SuSE Linux PPC 7.3 on an empty partition. It was working properly until a new file system should be created :-( For now, I'm clueless. Maybe someone can help me :-) BTW: As a start, I'm still trying to get a text only system working. I'm using pm2fb only (CVPPC), amifb is off. Bye. -- Dipl.-Inform.
