Not on may hardware. I suffer the same problem. Everything is ok with
kernel 2.4.9, on 2.4.17 my amiga waits to infinity after ide
detection/last_ipl, on 2.4.18 after ide detection. Can anybody help me ???

My hardware configuration is A1200,PPC603e/175,MC68040/40,96MB RAM,1.6GB
Seagate HDD, BTC CDROM x16, FastATA 1200, PCMCIA ethernet card.
