Is anybody managing to use the SurfSquirrel serial port with the 2.4.9 kernel? Looks like the whippet module is built into that kernel, so I'm a bit baffled at why it's not working. When I try to access /dev/ttyS1, I just get some error message (not a serial device or something like that), but if I reboot with the 2.2.10 kernel (the one that was on the Amiga Active CD) I can access /dev/ttyS1 and lights on my modem flicker accordingly (although I guess the driver is broken in that version because serial communication gets messed up, and so is unusable). To cut a long story short, 2.4.9 was the most recent kernel that I could find that will actually boot on my system - I was hoping the SurfSquirrel support was fixed in that version, but alas I can't access it at all now :( I also noticed some errors about missing pcmcia modules from /lib/modules/2.4.9/pcmcia (dir is empty here) when booting. Is there something I need to do to get /dev/ttyS1 to work? BTW, I'm using a fresh 2.2r6 install from the Debian CDs (gave up on trying to get the Amiga Active version working adequately :) -- Oliver Roberts - http://www.oliver-roberts.co.uk/ - ICQ: 34640231 IBrowse 2 mailing list ==> http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ibrowse |
