Here is the main problem: when I press play on XMMS no sound is played but the modem switches on (!). I'm using kernel 2.4.9, everything is correctly installed (I hope). I even added alias sound-slot-0 dmasound_paula to etc/modutils/aliases and ran update-modules, but it didn't work. Moreover, when I launch KDE after loading the window manager a message appears telling something about a cpu overload problem dealing with the sound server. I can't connect to the internet either. GKDial connects but drops the line as soon as authentication ends, kppp can't access /dev/ttyS0 from users even if all the permissions and group are set correctly (I'm in dip, dialout etc...). When I run kppp as root, it finds the modem, connects, but then pppd dies (also after I chmoded it) telling that it can't find ppp (but the aliases seem right). I thought it could be a kernel issue so I tried 2.2.10, which panics, and decided to give the latest 2.4.18 a try, but I can't manage to boot, as it hangs up (does not panic or give errors at all) just after finding the hard drive. I'm a former user of LPPC 1999 Q3, and everything worked nice there with 2.2.10 (btw, is there any way to install a 2000 Q4?). Any suggestion will be of *much* help :) Thank you Michele This is the bootstrap output, followed in attachment by dmesg and modprobe -c ones.
