Hi, I'm sick of having problems with my Debian Woody distro, I'm using latest 2.4.17-3 kernel, and installed the modules from the Debian packages, update, upgrade, everything seems to be fine except for a very annoying problem, I'm not able to run ANY window manager and I get TOO many kernel signal =11s , TOO often, anyway X starts fine, but when it gets to the selection screen, sometimes get stuck !! or after choosing a wm, say gnome or kde it starts openning and in the middle FREEZES, leaving the only choice of a hard RESET, with the annoying problems afterwards. I just did an upgrade on gnome and it upgraded it ok, but I can't get to display a thing. I've tried with kde, but now it doesn't even load the starting screen with the KDE logo and the extensions. Can't understand what's going on, and I only need to configure an Apache server with php and mysql, to show some work, and to my desperation I wasn't able to do it. Any advice from the experts is REALLY appreciated ... Regards, Rick |
