What kernel are you using ?
I did a woody installation from CD a while ago, and the kernel on the CD
paniced when I tried to boot from HD.
Using one of the latest prebuilt kernels on linux-apus.sf.net when I booted
from HD worked fine, and the installation finished without any problems...
